About

With this, we herald
new books on grass readings,
strides to glide sweet short cuts,
sunny lunch breaks, ace serves, slam dunks,
picnic rugs and festival stunts.
Or simply a sip of fine coffee in the morning when the world is waking.

Oh Alfred! was big public fence artwork that transformed 160m of construction fencing around Prince Alfred Park, Surry Hills into an outdoor gallery for Art & About Sydney 2010.

It’s all about fun: the cheeky, the absurd, the bold and the beautiful.  The culmination of efforts by more than 400 local Surry Hills residents, school children and inner city artists who have worked together throughout August and September to bring a bit of pizzazz back to our much loved Prince Alfred Park.

For Oh Alfred!, Creative Director Jess Cook and Creative Producer Kali Reid
have assembled a fine array of ten local artists to create feature works for the fence.

These works are presented alongside large woven textile panels, wire fence sculptures and fabulous rosettes, which have been created by the Surry Hills community and coordinated by the extraordinary Token Imagination Team of managers, installers, creative motivators and workshop supervisors.

Congratulations and thanks to everyone who has come along to the workshops and helped Alfred get his groove back, and to the schools who have participated in our schools program.

Thanks also to the following organizations who have offered their support for the project in various ways – each and every one a champion.
