Jess Cook
Jess Cook is a 27-year-old Sydney freelance artist and arts administrator who has been passionately engaging with the creative arts for the last 7 years. In this time she has worked in a variety of roles including: event manager, art director, poet, performer, concept designer, fundraiser, art activist, vocalist and curator. From venues, online, publications to festivals and street installations, her collaborations create fun and accessible situations that blur the boundaries between art forms, audience and performer. Contributing to corporate and community events/ organisations such as Chalk the Walk, Sydney Festival, Rosemount Fashion Week, Woodford Folk Festival, The Australian Poets Union, The Frequency Lab, The City of Sydney and The Mind Gallery.
She is the Director and Co-founder of Token Imagination, a dynamic collection of artists with the passion and nous to conceive, develop and producer unique events and installations. Fuelled by the power of collaboration and community, Token is always seeking new ways to engage. Recent works include: MEnU – Anode Festival 2009, Light Works – Art and About (2009), Augur – Creative Sydney (2009), The Wishing Forest; Sydney Children’s Festival (2009), Pulptry Smart Arts Youth Festival & The Peats Ridge Festival (2009) Elephant – Underbelly Public Arts Festival (2008).
Creative Producer
Kali Reid
Kali Reid is a Sydney based art maker, producer and facilitator of community projects. She has an ongoing relationship with arts collectives Knot Gallery, Token Imagination, Rhubarb Rhubarb and Reef Knot. Recent collaborations include visual arts installations in the Hyde Park ‘Spice Garden’ for Sydney Festival First Night 2010; Elephant (2008), which was developed at Underbelly Arts Lab and became a hit at The Sydney Children’s Festival; and Token Word, a monthly poetry and performance night which reinvigorated the Sydney poetry scene from 2003-7. Since 2006 Kali has produced the Hills Hoist, a multi-arts precinct within Peats Ridge Festival.
Kali also works as associate producer for SBS and ABC television documentaries. In 2007 she travelled around Australia as field producer for Red Ithaka Productions on ‘Making Babies’ (SBS, 2008), and in 2008 around Turkey on ‘Embedded with Nationalists’ (SBS, 2009). Since returning from Turkey Kali has produced a series of short films for Showtime in association with Tropfest and two episodes of ‘Whatever! The Science of Teenagers’ (ABC, 2009) for Essential Media. In 2010 Kali produced the multimedia theatre show ‘Some Film Museums I Have Known’ at Next Wave Festival in Melbourne. As a founding member and CEO of 107 Projects Inc, Kali is working to open a new multi-arts venue in inner Sydney.
